Tofa,
Yes, the webinar will on the 24th at noon. For some time I'd done these live, in person, in my office. But that limited attendance to people who were local and, likely, unemployed. The webinar format allows employed people to catch it during lunch and also extends access to people outside a local driving radius.

Randy's recommendations can be summed up in a commonly used saying - "underpromise and overdeliver." Describing your skills at a lower level than a top-performing position at which you are successful, is NOT being dishonest! Hiring managers don't have time to slog through irrelevant information. When I have hired for positions, I frankly tossed the resumes that threw the kitchen sink at me. Sure, account for the time spanned on your resume, but don't tell me every little thing you did that has no bearing on the job I'm hiring for. Instead, tell me how these ancillary skills contribute to what I need for the position I'm filling. This is a "customer-focused" attitude and one that WILL have a better chance of being noticed than the typical "here's everything I've done since I was born, you figure out how I fit in your organization" resume.

Karen,
Inventing something you've never done and claiming it as your own is different from having done something and choosing to not include it on your resume. But I understand your view... and for that reason I labeled this as a potentially controversial topic.

As for job titles, they are often not necessarily a true indicator of what the scope of your duties might be. Within a tiny company I might be a VP of Sales over a handful of people. If I'm applying for a role as an account manager or even as a sales manager, the chance I would get looked at if my old title was "VP of Sales" is slim... even though the scope of my duties would fall well within the range of this new job.

What you are telling people to do is dishonest. Dropping degrees and changing job titles could keep you from being hired if the employer verifies education and previous employment and finds out that you were not truthful.
